Kay Carlson |
Kay Carlson is a California colorist who finds her inspiration for brilliant oil paintings on location in the vineyards of Napa, the hillsides of Marin, and Tuscany, Italy. Kay’s plein air brushstrokes instantly usher her viewers into an emotional connection with panoramic coastlines and Sausalito waterfront.
“My passion is to capture the Light that constantly transforms our earth from moment to moment. I am inspired to see deeper than the physical qualities within a landscape. I choose locations which have a certain wildness, where the essence and story are more than the contours and lines.”
Educated formally at the University of Wisconsin and the San Francisco Art Institute, she works from her longtime studio in the Sausalito marina. Kay earned an American Impressionist Society Merit Award and is included in many private, corporate, and university collections. Selected collections and galleries include the BankAmerica, Intel Corporation, Mende Corporation, Extemporanea de Nicola, Tuscany, Charles Campbell Gallery, San Franciso, and the Robert Mondavi Winery. She regulary accepts commissions from clients. The paintings of this renowned artist are a loving record of earth patterns and vibrant light of California.
