||My images are primarily of imaginary and abstract landscapes, in which I try to capture the emotional weather and resonance of place. I do not use source material other than my memories of the places I have experienced. My father, vowed that his children would see every state, every national park and every monument in the nation. My family took endless road trips throughout the United States every summer, visiting most of the western states and parks. I remember the feeling of release as soon as we crossed the Mississippi into the land of huge skies, long vistas and few people.
I am both intimidated by and drawn to the vastness of landscape, which makes me feel both insignificant and connected. I live and thrive in a dense urban environment, yet I seek emotional breathing space in my art. Because my work is of no specific place and contains few details, viewers are free to invest each piece with their own meaning.
